Gandhi’s coffee is delighted to announce that it sponsored the Pune Chapter of the Indian Aeropress Championship. For the uninitiated, it is a national coffee making competition on the lookout for the best cup of aeropress coffee. Brewing coffee using the aeropress method involves a simple, rapid air pressure brewing process that results in rich, flavourful coffee with lower acidity and without a bitter aftertaste.
As its tagline reads, ‘A country that brews together, stays together’ and Gandhi’s coffee had the opportunity to provide the best of its beans to make the perfect brew.
The Pune Chapter was held on 27 August 2022 in Shivajinagar on a sunny saturday. The delicious smell of Gandhi’s coffee wafted through the air as talented participants set about the task of preparing the perfect cup of aeropress coffee.
What is Aeropress?
An invention in 2005 revolutionised the coffee brewing process.
Former Stanford University engineering instructor Alan Adler began studying the coffee brewing process in 2004. In his mind, brewing a superior cup of coffee was the only thing that mattered. One year later, the world was introduced to the AeroPress
Medium-fine ground coffee is immersed in the chamber with a brief brew time and this is what makes it different from the French press. Delicious flavours are extracted through the pressure created when the plunger is pushed through the chamber. As your coffee travels through a paper micro-filter, it will also be grit-free.
What is the Aeropress Championship?
“Wouldn’t it be fun to see who could brew the best cup of AeroPress coffee?” As the official website of the World Aerospace Championship notes, this simple question led two coffee lovers to implement a unique idea in 2008. In the first competition, there were only three competitors and Tim Wendelboe was the judge. Though it had modest beginnings, the idea evolved organically to and spread to over sixty countries with each season seeing over 3000 participants competing to brew the best cup of aeropress coffee.
Indian Aeropress Championship
The Indian Aeropress Championship brings together non professional coffee brewers to pit their prowess against others in the city and across the country. Independent coffee roasters, planters, and experts organise the Indian leg of the contest and Gandhi’s coffee is proud to be one of the sponsors of this exciting event!
